This summer, 85 participants—including 20 children—joined SRA Ministries for an unforgettable experience of learning and connection. Through literacy nights, family activities, and educational field trips across Dallas, families strengthened their English skills while creating lasting memories together.
Summer BLASST 2025 was a vibrant and joyful experience that brought together families from across our community for a season of learning, connection, and growth. A total of 85 participants joined the program, including 20 children who took part in our engaging Summer Kids component. Each evening was filled with energy as students arrived ready to learn and share. The program created a welcoming space where adults and children could grow together in language and confidence. From the very first day, there was a sense of excitement that carried throughout the entire program. Families appreciated the opportunity to participate in something meaningful during the summer months. It was truly a celebration of education, culture, and community.
One of the highlights of the program was our Literacy Nights, where parents and children came together in a powerful way. During these evenings, families read to each other, strengthening both language skills and family bonds. Laughter and joy filled the room as participants also enjoyed singing karaoke together. These moments created lasting memories and built confidence in both children and adults. Many parents shared how special it was to see their children learning and participating actively. Children, in turn, felt proud to showcase their growing reading abilities. “I enjoyed Summer Kids. My teacher helped me read better,” said Cindy Ramirez, age 8.
The program also included several exciting field trips that expanded learning beyond the classroom. Participants visited the AT&T Technology Center, explored the Greenville food trucks area, and discovered the wonders of the Perot Museum. Each trip included a mini-lesson designed to connect language learning with real-life experiences. These outings gave students the opportunity to practice English in new and dynamic settings. For many, it was their first time visiting some of these locations. The combination of education and exploration made learning more meaningful and engaging. These experiences helped build confidence and encouraged participants to continue learning beyond the program.
Parents also found great value in participating alongside their children. Mr. Ramirez, who attended the Basic Level English program with his wife while their daughter joined Summer Kids, shared his experience. “This program gave my family the opportunity to learn together and grow together,” he said. “I feel more confident speaking English, and I am excited to continue learning next year.” He also expressed his enthusiasm about returning for Summer 2026. As we celebrate the success of Summer BLASST 2025, SRA Ministries will take a short break during the month of July. Our offices will be closed as we prepare for the upcoming year. We will return in August, ready to launch a new season of citizenship and educational programs, with more information coming soon.
